I wish I could make cakes like this so that our little man can have cute birthday cakes (much like I did when I was little). I remember that my mom would make a cake in any shape we wanted for our birthday - bunny, witch, bear, Pikachu, soccer ball, ghost, etc. - and that they were always decorated adorably! Sadly, I do not have the cake decorating talent. Anyone want to teach me?

Look at the book "Hello Cupcake!" It's not cakes (obviously), but it's got a lot of cute designs for cupcakes, as well as ideas on how to use different candies and other things to decorate. Maybe start there and work your way up to real cakes? :)
Oh, another idea. Look at baking blogs... particularly Bakerella. She's got a lot of cute ideas on decorating baked goods.
Mom decorates cakes. You should take some lessons from her. I do alright with decorating, if I can say so myself. lol. My advice ... practice. =)
i am so going to try that out for dallin's 2nd birthday. what a cute idea. it won't look like that at all, but it looks like fun and is so cute!
