Such a Proud Mommy!!!

Cayden wrote his name all on his own today! Usually I have to have him trace his name (I dot it for him) or he writes his own name from looking off of one I have already written. But today, we sat down and I simply asked him to write his name. And bam! He knew how to spell it and he wrote it! The 'C' is backwards, but still, I am so proud! My little boy is getting so big.

Killer Bugs!

Bugs and I have not been the best of friends lately.

A scorpion tried to attack me last night. We were getting ready for bed and I stepped on something barefoot as I went to put the finger nail clippers away. My first thought was that I had stepped on a toy, but I then realized that we had just cleaned up the toys. Not knowing what I was stepping on I backed away only to see a scorpion! And he was mad! Chad shoveled it outside and then squished it. I don't know who was looking out for me last night, but I'm so glad that I didn't get stung. But seriously, where on earth did the scorpion come from?! It's not like we have them here in Utah...

This morning a cricket tried to jump on me. This is the second one this week. I. Hate. Crickets. They jump and freak me out and bleh. After my scorpion encounter last night a cricket is not what I wanted to see this morning.

Smorgasbord

Laura likes to read big kid books. When I find her 'reading' books it is usually anything but her baby board books.

Cayden gave us a scare a few weeks ago and ended up in the ER for the afternoon. He had been complaining about his neck and the back of his head hurting for a few days. One day he had a fever of 103.6 and the Dr was concerned it could possibly be meningitis. We were sent to the ER for him to be tested. Turns out the test for meningitis is pretty extensive (very similar to an epidural) and they don't like to do it if they don't have to. The ER Dr checked him out and found white spots on his tonsils. They tested for strep, but it came back negative. Still, a negative can be wrong sometimes and he had perked up since the Tylenol they gave him. The Dr was pretty convinced he didn't have meningitis and sent us home with some antibiotics for strep just in case. Cayden is doing great now and acts just fine. Thank heavens for antibiotics, Drs, and for not having meningitis!

Laura pushing Cayden in the toy bin at Grandma and Grandpa H's house. They both were loving it!

A nice old man gave me some quarters to let the kids have a ride while at the grocery store. If you look closely, you'll notice the huge lump in Cayden's cheek - gum, complements of the old man. And I just love the look on Laura's face.

Cayden likes to dress up in Chad's clothes and pretend he is going to work. I think it's so cute.

Our new car! Just kidding, but Chad really wishes it was our new car. Chad and Cayden took our neighbor's M3 for a drive and loved it. When they got home I asked Cayden what he thought and he said, "Mom, that was incred-ed-able!" Ha ha ha! I about died. Kid is just like his daddy.

We had Taco Bell for lunch one day on the way to visit Chad's family. Laura was eating some of their cinnamon twists in the car on the way up and passed out. Notice the cinnamon twist clutched in her hand? She was sticky and covered in cinnamon when we woke her up. And the first thing she did when she woke up? Put her hand in her mouth to try and finish the cinnamon twist she had been holding so tightly.

I was helping Chad with the lawn this past weekend so we could go run some errands. (I mowed the big flat part while Chad used the weed wacker.) Laura wasn't a big fan and ended up getting a ride on the lawn mower. She was still a bit scared, but at least she wasn't screaming.

See the perfect little circle bruise under Laura's eye? That's what happens when a tower of Duplos falls on your face. Poor baby.

Splash Pad Party!

Just over a week ago the outdoor mall near our house had a Splash Pad Party to celebrate the turning on of their splash pad. They had blow up bounce houses and water slides, games, treats, and of course, the splash pad for everyone to enjoy. I took the kids down with Kenzi and her kids and let them have at it!

Cute kids playing in the splash pad. The mall did a countdown to the turning on of the splash pad and dropped a ton of beach balls from a net high in the air. While there were many, many balls there were way more kids. I had to run into the spraying water to snag two balls for the kids to play with.

LOVE those chubby baby legs!

In the line of fire, but loving it! I thought Laura would be a little timid around the water, but she totally surprised me. She jumped right in and didn't care how wet or cold she got.

My little fashionista wearing my sunglasses. She wears them any chance she gets.

Wearing her flower balloon hat. I wanted a picture of Laura with her hat and Cayden with his sword together, but he was off fighting who knows what. :)

The End of Little Gym

This past week was the last day of Cayden's Little Gym class. To celebrate, the kids put on a show for the parents to show off all they had learned this past year. It was pretty cute. Cayden has loved his Little Gym class and we'll be sad now that it's over.

Going backwards across the bars. Show off.

On his favorite thing at the gym, the rings!

Going across the beam on his own! He wouldn't do this at the start of the year. I was so proud when I saw him do this! I love that he's losing his balance here. :)

Cayden trying to fall again, but this time off of the tower all the kids got their medals on. Apparently my child is a klutz.

Ta da! Cayden with his cute class and teacher.
