The Birthday Weekend

We had a great birthday weekend celebrating Cayden's 6th birthday and Chad's 32nd birthday a bit ago. I think they both felt special and everyone had way too much fun. Goodness, I just love the two boys in my life so, so much!

We started off the birthday weekend by going to Chuck E. Cheese, as per Cayden's request. The kids had so much fun! Too bad it's so dang expensive or else we'd go more often. This was one of Laura and Grace's favorite rides - little cuties.

We spent the next day celebrating this cute boy. I can't believe he is six already?!

Close up of the cake. It didn't turn out quite like I envisioned, but he loved it anyway. (It was supposed to be Lego brick with Legos on top... Yeah, not so much.)

Cayden spent a large part of the day playing with birthday presents.  Legos, a bike, RC cars... This boy was in heaven!

The big kids went swimming.

And all the girls got their toe nails painted, even Gracie's itty bitty ones. :)

We took some cute pictures of the kiddos.

And some silly ones. I LOVE Cayden's face. Ha!

We did lots of fireworks. The favorites were pop-its and sparklers.

Proof that Cayden did sparklers too. Also, this picture is great for one reason - Grace's face.

We went and watched the fireworks that night and ate popsicles while we waited. The kids loved the fireworks, especially Grace. She sat in awe the entire time and would have sat for hours watching had it been that long. She was a broken record of "Wow's!" all night long.

We celebrated Chad's birthday with presents (the boy got spoiled, trust me)...

...dinner (Laura was loving her chips and salsa)...

...bowling...

...and cupcakes!

Trouble Makers, Fun Lovers, & the Disobedient

My little artist. She did a dang good job; the entire wall was covered in pencil scribbles. Grace was so proud of her work that I hated to scrub it off the wall.

Laura "sleeping" (she has decided that Chad's grill cover makes a really good blanket).

My little superstar started nursery almost two months ago and it was only in the last week that we made it through the two hours without much crying. Fingers crossed that she's learning to like it and that it's not just a fluke.

Our neighbors got a new jeep power wheel and all the kids love riding it together. (Zoom in on the pics to see my kids' huge grins!) Cayden enjoys riding more than driving and Laura is forbidden to drive after the near miss of a parked car and the mailbox, finally ending up in a pine tree - the girl needs to learn to look while she's driving!

Gracie thought it was fun at first...

...but quickly changed her mind. I shouldn't laugh, but her face cracks me up.

We seem to take a lot of pictures of the kids eating ice cream lately. I guess we tend to eat more of it (that and popsicles) during the summer. Plus, my kids are Higgins', so naturally they LOVE ice cream!

Cayden learned the hard way that mom will do what she says. After multiple warnings to stop messing around while eating breakfast I told him that if he kept it up, his breakfast would end up on his head. I'll let you guess as to whether or not he listened. Again, I really shouldn't laugh...
