Yuba Lake

Last week we went on a boating/camping trip to Yuba Lake with Chad's family. We drove up Wednesday after Chad got off work and came home late Thursday night. Wednesday night Chad, Cayden, and Uncle Eric slept in a tent outside. Cayden loved it and took forever to fall asleep since he couldn't stop talking... "What was that noise?" "I see stars." "I hear the boat on the water." Silly boy. Laura and I slept in the motor home where the rest of Chad's family was sleeping as well. It was seriously the worst night of sleep ever. Laura got up every two hours to eat (which is worse than when she was a newborn). No joke. On top of that, she didn't go down until after 11pm and got up with the sun at 6am. Despite our lack of sleep we had a lot of fun the next day out on the water. Sadly, it was super windy because of a nearby fire (in fact, we were on fire watch as it was heading our direction) and so the water was too choppy to water ski and almost too choppy for tubing. It was also SUPER hot. The wind wasn't a cool breeze, but just really hot air so we were still dying from the heat. And don't forget the sand. Lots and lots of sand blowing around. By the time we got home Thursday night we were a hot, tired, sandy, dirty mess!

Cayden with Papa and the boat.

The smoke sure made a pretty sunset.

Cayden and Chad on the boat. Chad is driving and talking to his dad... his face makes me die laughing!

My favorite video from the entire trip. Best part... when Cayden coughs (about 10 seconds in). Funniest thing ever!

Cayden loved the campfire! He thought it was so cool, but too hot to get any closer.

Being goofy before Laura went to bed. She is way too cute for her own good!

 My little night owl.

Chad had a little shadow the whole day. So cute. Cayden wants to be just like his daddy. :)

Warrior baby! Getting her war paint *cough* I mean sunscreen on.

Check out this sweet sand/mud city that Eric and Cayden made. Well, it was mostly Eric, but Cayden thought he was helping.

Steven. This picture is awesome.

Cool dude riding in the boat.

Laura HATED the life jacket, but got used to it after a little bit.

 Posing. Love the chunky legs!

Napping on the boat.

Laura napped too, but under the steering wheel.

Cayden got to be in charge of the flag and thought that it was pretty cool.

Chad and I tubing together. Love our faces. Lol.

Cayden's one and only stint in the water. The moment he started getting wet when the tube was going under he started screaming, "I better get back on the boat! I better get back on the boat!" Kid was mortified. I'll admit, I did laugh.

Their 1st Parade!

Cayden and Laura went to their very first parade yesterday morning - the Pleasant Grove Strawberry Days parade. We left the house just after 9, found a place to park and sit about 9:30, and the parade started at 10. Cayden loved the firetrucks, the policemen riding their motorcycles, and the horses. I still don't think he understands why people kept throwing candy at him and I never could really get him to jump up and go after any so the only candy he got is what conveniently fell in his lap. The kids did much better than I thought they would in the hot sun. Cayden sat on his little blanket and just watched and watched and Laura napped most of the time. We ended up leaving around 11:30 even though the parade wasn't over yet as we were all tired, thirsty, and very hot. I think the kids had a lot of fun and I had more fun than I thought I would. I can't wait to take Cayden to another parade and perhaps even a rodeo sometime. :)

Sienna, Cayden and Laura waiting for the parade to start. They were seriously so well behaved!

How Laura spent most of the parade. She reminds me of a little chipmunk or squirrel here with the way she is holding her hands. Sweet girl.
