Birdhouses

Yesterday Chad and his dad took the kids to their very first 'Build and Grow' clinic at Lowe's. About every month Lowe's has a little clinic for kids where they can come build some sort of wood project. This month they built birdhouses. I knew Cayden would love it, but was unsure about Laura. All I knew was that Laura would be very sad if she didn't get to go. It turns out that both kids were very engaged the whole time and had a blast! Yay! I'll have to sign them up for these clinics each month.

Looking at the task at hand. Cayden loved the goggles even though they made him look like a goon. He wanted to wear them all day, but we somehow convinced him not to.

Building their houses. Laura apparently tried to use both the handle of the hammer as well as her thumb to get the nails in the wood. Grandpa's poor fingers...

Showing off their hard work.

After they were done, everyone headed back to Grandma and Grandpa's house to hang the birdhouses up. Grandpa thought it would be a good idea to put shredded wheat on the roof to attract the birds to the houses. Laura was more interested in playing with dolls than helping. Notice that Cayden is still wearing his goggles.

Ta da! The kids were so excited.
