LA Temple

This morning Chad and I went to the LA temple. Since I start work at 9am each day we have to go ridiculously early (which is why I look so dang tired in the picture) in order to be able to go through a session and have some time afterwards and not feel rushed. I woke up at 5:35am and woke Chad up at 5:50am. We left by 6:20 hoping to make the 7am session. It turns out we did make it there by 7am, but the sessions run every hour on the half hour! Apparently we misread the card. Lol. However, because I had 45 minutes before the 7:30 session started I was able to do some initiatories. I haven't done initiatories since I took out my own endowment; it was good to be able to do that again and be reminded of the potential we all have.

The session itself was great! I didn't know this before, but the LA temple has you move into different rooms - just like a live session, except it's not live. The artwork was beautiful and to be honest, I really enjoyed moving to the different rooms.

The temple truly is an amazing place and I am so grateful for the spirit that can be felt while there. Not every time I go to the temple do I feel like a great big brick of revelation has hit me square in the forehead, but I am grateful for the things that I have been taught while there and for the whisperings of the spirit that help Chad and I guide our life together. *sigh* I think I just wish I could live at the temple. :)

Longboarding and the Beach

I decided the other day that I wanted to learn how to longboard. Chad was quite excited to teach me and so we set out. I think I prevented myself from getting anywhere near pro by wearing flip flops. I mean what kind of person wears flip flops when they are longboarding!? Anyway, I am not half bad. I only fell once, but scraped my leg and foot up. However, they are sweet battle scars as well as proof of my adventure.

After longboarding for a bit, Chad and I watched the sunset at the beach, played in the waves, and dug for sandcrabs. Apparently Chad has never dug for sandcrabs before so I taught him how to recognize where to dig and then we dug! He was so surprised at how by simply moving one handful of dirt you could find 20 sandcrabs! And it was a little gross to bury your feet in the sand and feel the sandcrabs moving all around and under you. Yuck!

A cute little canal we passed as we were walking to the beach.

Never turn around when your husband says, "Hey dear." Especially when you know he has a camera. Oy.

Proof of my mad longboarding skills. I am quite proud of myself. And yes, I am wearing Chad's shorts. :)

Playing in the waves.

Pretty sunset.

This is a cool picture. I climbed on Chad's back and he bent over, so the camera was pointing up towards the sky.

Date Night

The past few weeks have been really rough for Chad. He hasn't gotten any sales and gets very frustrated because of it. This frustration in turn affects his sales. Plus, on top of that he is a little burned out. Saturday morning Chad was out knocking and the manager called him up. He said that he thought Chad needed a break from work and that he was going to pick him up and bring him home. So when someone knocked on my door at 1 in the afternoon on Saturday I was a little confused (1- Chad doesn't normally get home until 8ish on Saturday and 2- no one EVER knocks on our door). As I opened the door I saw Chad standing there with flowers! They are gorgeous and were second only to Chad coming home early. :)

Since Chad was home early we ran a few errands and then went to 7-11 and got nachos and slurpees for dinner. Kinda silly I know, but Chad was craving nachos and said that the nachos there were great. Be sure to notice Weechee in the bottom left of the first picture; she was trying to sneak some food. Chad and I felt guilty that we were enjoying nachos and she wasn't so we let her lick the dishes clean.

After dinner and I played in the pool at the apartment and then enjoyed the hot tub. Chad decided to be very un-photogenic in the pictures.

We then went back to our apartment, made chocolate covered strawberries and enjoyed them while we watched a few episodes of our newest addiction, Lost Season 2. It was a perfect day!

Sandcastles #2

Chad and I went to the beach again and built another sandcastle. We still don't have any sand toys/tools, but we brought cups with us. I wasn't on the phone this time and so I added all the pretty seashell decorations (not that you can really see them in this picture, but they are there... promise). When we finished a little boy came over and was very impressed with our sandcastle making abilities. He was quite excited when Chad told him it could be his castle. He promptly jumped inside to begin his reign as king. :)

Play Day in Santa Monica!

Yesterday Shayla and I had a play day in Santa Monica! We went to Chipotle for lunch (*sigh* of contentment) and then walked around UCLA campus. We then drove down to the Promenade and Pier in Santa Monica. The Promenade reminded me of Pearl Street in Bolder; yes, there were crazy street performers and homeless people all over! After walking down the Promenade we got ice cream cones on the Pier - chocolate and vanilla swirl - and sat on the beach. We watched the sunset and then dug for sandcrabs! It was a very delightful and relaxing day. :)

Bubba Gump Shrimp! It reminded me of Forrest Gump! ;)

My baby sandcrab! Actually, he wasn't really a baby, he was huge! To find them you stand by the edge of the water and when the water goes out you look for little bubbles in the sand. Apparently they are air bubbles from the sandcrabs. Then you dig like crazy (because sandcrabs dig ridiculously fast!) and hope you find one.
